2026 American Literature Association Conference
Darlene Harbour Unrue will chair the Katherine Anne Porter Society session at the 37th
American Literature Association Conference on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 10 am. The conference
is being held May 20-23, 2026, at the Palmer House in Chicago, IL. The panel entitled,
“Katherine Anne Porter and Other Writers,” will include “Lazarus, Come Forth: Katherine Anne
Porter’s Resurrection on YouTube,” Allen Lee Ireland, Independent Scholar and Poet;
“Katherine Anne Porter and Hannah Arendt: Shared Affinities,” Jerry Findley, Independent
Scholar; and “Mythic Imagery in Katherine Anne Porter and Tennessee Williams,” Mark Joseph
King, Independent Scholar.
The Society’s session at the 38 th American Literature Association conference will be chaired by
Christine Grogan. Send proposals on any topic related to Katherine Anne Porter to Christine
Grogan, cgrogan@udel.edu, by December 1, 2026.
Katherine Anne Porter Society Travel Award
This award provides up to $2,000 to support travel expenses to attend the Porter panel at the
2027 American Literature Association Conference.
